Mudgee was the first town in Australia to turn pink for the McGrath Foundation during Cancer Awareness Month.
The success of this fantastic community event in Mudgee is now spreading across the country, with numerous towns now involved in Pink Up Your Town! From 1 October to 31 October businesses and the community of the Mudgee Region including Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos turn Pink in every way possible! From shops on the main street, schools, wineries, firefighters, tradies and doctors through to a pink bubbles carwash, the pubs, the local veterinary hospital and many others.
The popular Mudgee Region best known for its sophisticated food and drink credentials continues to shine PINK every year raising funds for the McGrath Foundation which places Care Nurses in communities throughout Australia as well as promoting cancer awareness throughout the community.
The Pink Up Mudgee project is supported by the Mid-Western Regional Council. The project is coordinated by a group of volunteers known as the Pink Up Committee.
It is an incredible feeling to be part of a community that wants to contribute to such a great cause.
Everyone who lives in the region, or visits the region throughout the year is already aware of the generous spirit our community emanates, so to share the love with the rest of Australia is wonderful - We hope it inspires everyone to come together and support the Pinking Up of our Region during October.

Mudgee was the first town in Australia to turn pink and shine a light on the impact of breast cancer in their community. Since 2016, more than 200 businesses and organisations each year join the activity “Pink Up Mudgee”, raising money for the McGrath Foundation by turning the whole town pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October).
The entire Mudgee community comes together to be a part of this month long spectacle; from shops on the main street, schools, firefighters, tradies and doctors through to a pink bubbles carwash, the pub, local veterinary hospital and many others.

I’m pleased to see the concept growing off the back of last year’s success. This year, we have over 285 local businesses participating in PINK activities, nine separate events throughout the month to drive donations and of course, a competition to engage Mudgee residents to take part in the fun. I’m looking forward to another successful year, and raising more funds for the McGrath Foundation.
